S2-E1: Choosing an Appropriate Organization Website Project
Today is the start of season 2 of the monthly newsletter.
In season 1, we covered all the different types of websites, who wants websites, and all the different tools you can use to create websites.
Season 2 shall kick off with creating an organization website. I will be sharing the steps I am taking in creating the website.
“Your mission, should you choose to accept it,” will be to creating your own version of the website as you follow along. By the end, you will have a finished website that you can add to your portfolio.
Today's email will be a bit longer than usual.
Here is a breakdown of what I will be covering on the website.

Creating an Organization Website
Creating a website can feel confusing if you have never done it before. If you grabbed two random developers and asked them how they create websites, you would get two different processes.
I have created a plan that I will use while creating the organization website.
Process of Creating an Organization website Overview
Choosing a project: Design and Content
Adding HTML code
Styling the Website
Adding special components and interactivity
Testing on different browsers
Publishing the website
Lesson 1: Choosing a Project
When choosing an organization website project, I will be looking at 4 things:
My personal interests
What do I want out of it
skills I want to learn and develop
value I am gaining from the project
money, review, portfolio item, volunteering, e.t.c.
My previous experiences
Project delivery time
My current interest is to create an organization website that I can include in my portfolio.
I have 3 options:
Option 1: reach out to my social network and find out if anyone has an organization that need a website
Option 2: find organizations online(based on my interests) that might need a website
Option 3: find organizations with websites that already looks great
Option 1 will require you to come up with both the content and the design of the website. With option 2, you already have the content, you only need the design. Option 3 comes with both the design and content.
I don't intend to spend time on design and content creation. I want to showcase my coding skills and not my design skills. My choice will obviously be option 3. That way, I can focus all the energy and time on creating the project.
Where to find organizations' websites
Where will I to find organizations websites:
Google search
Country based website directories
Interest based website directories
I have found a website I like what do I do?
Save the website's url on a notes app.
Take a full length screenshot of the website's homepage. Ensure you take a PC and mobile screenshot of the website.
Take screenshots of any additional page you would like to recreate.
I have found more that one website that I would like to recreate, what do I do?
Save all the urls of the websites on a notes app.
Choose one website you would like to recreate now and take full-length screenshots.
Once you finish making your first website, you can go back to your notes and decide if you want to make another organization website.
